This book offers a glimpse into the life of Michael Sherry, a childhood sexual abuse survivor who later discovered the strength in his body through training at the gym. It’s not a how-to book, a triumphant survival story or a self-help manual. It’s a collection of stories about his ongoing recovery journey and some of the souls he encountered along the way, as his demons took the form of prescription drug addiction.
In his stories, Mike recalls his struggles and the evolution of his sense of self, as he continues to battle with depression and PTSD. He shares memories from his years of working out and then training others at three different NYC area gyms, gradually taking control of his body to claim his space in the world. He celebrates the small victories of his life, as he confronts the trauma of his past. These are stories of the messy process known as healing.
Mike Sherry battles for serenity every day – he trains for life.
