Body building for Rehabbing Mind and Body

Weights - Michael SherryThe usual form of “rehab” takes place with practitioners and therapists writing prescriptions for exercise and rehabilitation. It’s very important to follow the guidelines laid out. Sports injuries are very specific, not so much in the injury itself, a torn ACL is a torn ACL, but in the person’s ability to follow orders very well, as well the body healing at different speeds. There are many cases of people hurting other body parts because they tried to work around a specific injury. This not only makes the injured person unhappy, because now he has two injuries, but it frustrates the therapist and doctor who now must begin again. Rehabilitation is specific to each person and should be adhered to the finite.

It is amazing to see how many people that have gone through some sports related injury figure out a way to strengthen the muscles and the joints around the injured body part. Of course it’s always best that you discuss these things with your physical therapist and or doctor whether what you are doing is ok, and often will provide you with the right type of exercises you will need to get back on track. As much as working out can mean to someone, risking further injury or causing a new one would be devastating.

Once you find that secret that so many others have found it can become an addiction. People feel that if they miss their work-out their life will lose its sense of purpose. Some people trade one addiction for another. If you keep looking at your right thumb in the mirror and think it should look better, might be a red flag that you are becoming a little obsessed.

Overtraining can be a serious problem with people that have just been baptized into the World of fitness. Of course with all the positive effects that people begin to see and feel. No longer does he/she leave work and go home to an empty apartment, or out with co-workers for a few beers, now with a sense of purpose and goals they head straight to the six O’clock boot camp, or 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. Once people push too hard often overtraining rears its ugly head or worse an injury can occur that should be attended too, but now with your new tough attitude you feel like you can walk through a brick wall. You can’t.

As important as training is, it’s just as important to get the proper rest and time off between workouts. The body grows at rest not in the Health club. Reaping its benefits is a life style change. Working out, proper nutrition and sleep.

This is a great way to learn discipline as well as instant gratification is for children. Learning to wait and be patient is everyday life skills.
